The Informer Page 3 December 12,1988 Twenty- year Bash a Success Happy, familiar faces filled the Northeast Cafeteria November 25 as the College celebrated its twentieth birthday and honoured long-time employees. Pictured here are: Rose Naumann (Clay & Textile’s first weaving instructor, who retired last year), Karin Lind from Anthropology, and Joy Smith from Extension. For more grins, turn the page. Around 200 College people reminisced, dined, and were entertained at the Twentieth Anniversary party on Friday, November 25. With the fine touch and hard work of Di Knight and Carol Noonan, the northeast cafeteria was transformed into a festive room. After a fantastic sit-down meal, prepared and served by Beaver Foods staff, the crowd was entertained by the College Swing Choir in their premiere performance. Ad lib speeches, a skit by Barry Williamson that had people rolling in the aisles, and gift presentations to those who have been at Cap between 15 and 20 years concluded the evening. Special guests included Sue Carter, Connie Lucas, Bill Little, Bill McPhee, Rose Nauman, Harold Kirchner, “Slim” Fougberg, Hilda Rizun, Paul Gallagher, and many more. The evening could be summed up with a kind note received by our office: “It was a pleasure to hear our music students, look at the ‘historical’ photographs, and to meet once again with people from our past. The special touches like Donna McLaren’s pots and the decorations were delightful. Our food service is to be complimented and thanked for their extra work.” A very special thanks to all those who helped make the evening a success: Judi Fletcher — helped with everything! Apologies to Sandi Rogers. Somehow, I got the name “Marshall” stuck in my mind when I introduced Sandi as the instructor of the Media Resources students who produced the Twentieth Anniversary Show, “20/20 Vision”. Also, thanks to Barb Fus and Cameron Heryet, the students who did such a fantastic job. Barb was on hand to do the set up with Sandi for the slide show at the party. We Missed You! Unfortunately, Rosemary Coupe (English), Sharon Feyer (Library) and Bruce Lucas (Personnel) were left off the list of people who started at the College in 1973 or earlier. Rosemary started in 1970, and Sharon and Bruce both started in 1973. Thanks for your many years of service at Capilano College. If you know of anyone else omitted, please call me at 2903. Unfortunately, our files are not set up so that original start dates can easily be determined. — Bev Greene
