Cap asked for new program Terry Adler, of Homemaker program fame, has another proposed program on her plate. Employers of Long Term Care Facilities on the North Shore have asked the College to provide a training program for Long Term Care Aides. Terry explains ''such a course would qualify a person to work in extended care, intermediate care, and personal care settings as an Aide to other health prof- essionals.'' If offered, the course would begin in Sept. and run for 16 weeks, half of which time would be spent’ in clinical settings and half in classroom and lab work. If you know anyone who might be in- terested in this program they should phone local 390 and leave their name. Terry says that Canada Employment sponsorship for el- igible students is possible and that the employment opportunities after graduation would be good. Go blow in your spare time Are you musical? Faculty, staff or student there are several adult community bands who would love to have you playing with them. In West Vancouver there is (1) a concert band for excellent amateurs, (2) a dance band (by audition) (3) a Pops band for ANYBODY who knows which end you point and which end you blow and (4) a beginners band for none of the above -- all you need is a wind instrument. In Burnaby two bands meet: (1) a concert Pops. band for fairly competent to excellent amateurs and (2) a dance band, big band style, for competent musicians (i.e. who can read and blow the right tunes). If this has caught your in- terest/enthusiasm, call Ray Casson at 430- 5588. And if you would like to BOOK any of these bands (for a donation towards music and conductor's fee only) also call Ray.
