As it enters its tenth season, it will mark the occasion by focusing its television series, The Hero Cafe, on inspirational people. The department would like to invite all members of the College community to visit the television studio to hear the following guests. Doors open at 6 p.m. and taping begins at 6:30 p.m. On the evening of November 20, Bob Carkner, former principal of Steveston High School, will visit the studio to discuss student sponsorship of orphans at Casa Guatemala in Mexico. Joining Bob will be Erik Poulton, an orphan who was adopted by a Canadian family. Erik has graduated from Steveston High and has returned to the Guatemalan orphanage where he spent his early years. Also in the studio that same evening will be local comedian Richard Lett, known for his performances for numerous charities. On the night of November 27, the studio will welcome Native artist Roy Henry Vickers. Roy is a world- renowned Tsimshian artist who lives and works on Vancouver Island. Also on the bill will be Susan Campbell, who bravely rescued three people from a crashed air plane in Richmond. Susan will be joined by John Urquhart, a local fire fighter.
