Committee Changes

Elections were held at the October OTEU
membership meeting and the three vacant
committee member positions have been filled.
Lynne Hamilton, Divisional Assistant - ARC,
Judith Hall, Student Employment Advisor - SEC
and Val Lautenschlager, Academic Dean’s
Secretary, were nominated and elected by the
OTEU membership for a two-year term.

The Chair’s position was posted November 9.
Announcement of the incoming Chair will be
publicized once the formal hiring procedure is
complete.

Committee Activities

Planning has commenced for the Fourth Annual
Staff Career Development Days, scheduled for
February 24-25, 1994. Three full-day workshops
will be featured each day, for a combined total of
six workshops. It is expected that staff will have
the opportunity to attend one full day.

The location will be the Pacific Marine Training
Institute in North Vancouver.

The Staff Career Development Committee welcomes
your suggestions and input. Please contact any
member of the Committee regarding your ideas.

On Wednesday, November 3, Capilano College and
the North Shore Canada Employment Centre
hosted an evening with guest speakers Dr. Roslyn
Kunin, Executive Director of the Laurier Institution,
Rick Waters, Labour Market Information Analyst
for the North Shore Canada Employment Centre,
and College president Doug Jardine.

For those who missed this informative presentation
on labour market trends and the job market of the
future, the Student Employment Centre and the
Counselling Department will be showing the video-
taped presentation on Tuesday, Jan. 18, 12:30 - 2 p.m.

“Job Search for a New Generation”

The second annual job search career fair for post-
secondary students and graduates will be held
Saturday, January 22, 1994 at SFU Harbour Centre.
Advance tickets may be purchased from the
Student Employment Centre for $3, or at the door
for $6. Contact the Student Employment Centre
for additional information, local 2965.

Mark Your Calendar

Organization of the second annual Christmas
party for all Capilano College employees and their
guests is well underway, with the date set for
Thursday, December 16. All staff are encouraged
to attend — last year’s event was a great success
and the forecast is that it will even be better this
year!

Your $3 ticket will help to cover costs, with
proceeds going to charity. Donations of non-
perishables for the Food Bank, and toys for the
Christmas Bureau will be gladly accepted at the
door. Your generosity is always appreciated.
Food is pot luck. The festivities get underway at
6:30 p.m. in room B322 — see you there!
