Athletes honoured at awards banquet everal outstanding athletes were honoured April 15 at the Capilano College awards banquet held at Cheers restaurant in North Vancouver. Diana Artuso, who was honoured last March by Sport BC as the top college athlete in British Columbia, was presented with the Canadian Colleges’ Athletic Association (CCAA) all-Canadian award (soccer) and was named the female athlete of the year at Capilano College. Diana graduates this spring with a diploma in Early Childhood Education. Brad Peterson was named the College’s male athlete of the year. Brad is in his senior year at Capilano College and will be graduating with his diploma in Outdoor Recreation. He was an outstanding performer for the men’s Blues soccer team, earning a place on the British Columbia Athletic Association (BCCAA) provincial all-star team and named top midfielder in the BCCAA provincial soccer championships. Allison Roberts, a first-year player for the women’s basketball team, was honoured for her athletic academic Male scholar athlete of the year, Sean Kask. Allison earned a GPA of 4.0 last term and was named the female scholar athlete of the year. She was also named to the BCCAA all-star team this year and received the CCAA academic all-Canadian award for being named to the B.C. provincial all-star team and earning a GPA of 4.0. Sean Kask, a senior player for the men’s basketball team, was named the male scholar athlete of the year at Capilano College, earning a GPA of 4.22 last term. Sean plans to pursue a post-graduate degree in veterinary medicine.
