Jessiman and Oberndorf toured six Southeast Asian nations (seven if you want to include a short sightseeing trip to China) in February-March, giving lectures and consultations to educational, business and government groups. Oberndorf, Jessiman lecture in six nations An exchange of student artwork between Capilano College and a technical institute in Thailand, and an itinerant lecture tour of Asian nations by Capilano faculty are among the possible outcomes of a recent lecture tour of ASEAN nations by Associate Dean of Careers, Jon Jessiman, and peripatetic Business Management instructor Al Oberndorf. The objectives of the trip, sponsored by CIDA and the ACCC, were to deliver a series of public lectures and private consultations, and to make contacts for educational projects. It was also a personally exciting experience for both of our delegates. "Although it started out as a lecture tour to share information, I'm sure that I learned as much as I was able to teach," commented Jessiman. He started his trip on February 17, after administering a morning mid-term to his BSMG 241 students, by catching a flight to Hong Kong and, after an overnight stay, going on to Bangkok to meet up with Oberndorf. Jessiman had only two anda half weeks to spare (his students were doing their two week off-campus practicums), so Oberndorf flew out a week earlier and left a week later to cover the full month of the tour.
