The event was held in Richmond on Monday, April 12 and Tuesday, April 13. The CDC was hosted by the Labour Market Career Information Association of B.C., of which both Colleen and Rachel are executive board members. The CDC was very well attended with more than 200 participants from across the province. The conference committee was composed of individuals from all the areas of career development and conference presentations included not- for-profit community organizations, B.C. Workinfonet Society, federal and provincial government representation, the Canadian Career Development Foundation, private and public post- secondary education institutes, youth and entrepreneurial service providers, and individual career development practitioners. Representatives from Capilano College have been very involved in the advancement of the field of career development, including participation in a national initiative for the establishment of national standards and guidelines. As well, the Continuing Education and Counselling departments are currently working towards positioning Capilano College as a significant partner in the establishment of career development practitioner programs in B.C.
