With a Song in their Hearts The Capilano College Singers under the direction of Lars Kaario placed second in the International Choral Kathaumixw in Powell River this summer. In a letter to College President Doug Jardine, Colin Miles, regional director of the Canadian Music Centre, commended the singers for their outstanding performances of challeng- ing contemporary works. “...the Ameri- can conductors attending Kathaumixw were amazed at the level Lars Kaario has achieved with students in a two year program,” Miles wrote. A CBC TV production crew takes over the Sportsplex to shoot a segment of Northwood. They filmed inside and out, and gave Sportsplex staff a busy day.
