Report from Ed Council Submitted by Dr. Frank Harris At the October meeting, Education Council agreed to confer bachelor’s degrees on 38 students at the November 2 convocation. Council gave final approval to a post baccalaureate citation in Tourism Leadership. This citation ladders into a master’s degree at Royal Roads. After extensive discussion, Council struck a committee to develop guidelines and criteria for transfer credit from private institutions and other institutions not in the B.C. transfer guide. Council discussed the issue of automatically moving students from waitlists to classes as space becomes available. Council plans to continue the discussion at a future meeting. The Budget Committee reported that budget discussions will take place much earlier this year than previously. Most budget work will take place this fall with the objective of reporting to Council early in the New Year. Program reviews will occur at the usual time, from March to June, as data becomes available. Week four enrolment statistics indicate a drop of less than 2% in seats taken, compared to week four in the fall 2004 term.
