Who’s Doing What

Work done last summer at UBC by Peter

Palffy-Muhoray and Mike Freeman from our
Physics department and R. Barrie, B.

Bergersen and |. Carvalho from the UBC
Physics dept. has resulted in a paper

entitled: ''Tunneling Resistivity of a One-
Dimensional Random Lattice and the

Petersburg Problem.'' The paper will be
published in the Journal of Statistical

Physics in April.

Former student receives honour

Johannes Thé, former University Transfer

Music student here, has been accepted as a
student by Ronald Turini, internationally

acclaimed pianist and teacher. Thé is
doing a double major in composition and

piano at the University of Western Ontario
right now. Commented Karl Kobylansky:

"This is a great opportunity for John and
an honour for our Music Department."

Cap instructors in show

The annual juried exhibition of

contemporary British Columbia Crafts,
"Made by Hand!'', is now at the Arts,

Sciences and Technology Centre at 600
Granville. Works by two Capilano College

instructors are included inthe exhibit—a
handwoven rug, ''Grid in Blues'' by Mieneke

Mees and handpainted silk yardage by
Leslie Richmond. The show runs until

November 27.
