In 1990, Oswald's most notorious recording, Plunderphonic, was destroyed by prudes in the Recording Industry representing Michael Jackson. He has since released recordings on Elektra, Avant, ReR Megacorp, Blast First, & Swell, featuring transformations of the music and performances of Stravinsky, Metallica, James Brown, Gyorgy Ligeti, Dolly Parton, Sonic Youth, & many others. Grayfolded, the first disc of his Grateful Dead production, was selected as the #1 international recording of the decade by The Toronto Sun. In the same year Acoustics, his album of improvised music, was a #1 critic's selection in Coda Magazine. The GrayFolded Package, completed the following year, was selected for best of the year lists in Rolling Stone, The New York Times and many other publications. A recent retrospective CD box-set of Plunderphonic works has been called "mind-numbingly amazing" by Peter Kenneth in Rolling Stone, and made Spin Magazine's top 10 list. PIERRE TANGUAY is a percussionist, composer and inveterate inventor whose music shows the wide range of his experience in ancient and contemporary music, jazz, and music for dance, theatre and cinema. He plays with some 20 established groups, such as Dangereux Zhoms, Evidence, Castor et compagnie and Karen Young, and is the founder of Strada, Midi Tapant and Derome Tanguay Danse. He has produced five albums and collaborated closely on some 50 others, and has more than 20 compositions for dance (Lucie Gregoire, Andrew Harwood, Irene Stamou and Francine Gagne) and a number for theatre and film (Allan Booth, Imago and Roberto Ariganello) to his credit. He regularly tours throughout Canada and Europe. JOHN KORSRUD is a Vancouver composer and bandleader. John is the leader of The 17-piece new music ensemble The Hard Rubber Orchestra and 20-piece salsa/latin-jazz Orquesta Goma Dura. As a composer he has been commissioned by The Vancouver Symphony, The CBC Radio Orchestra, numerous European ensembles and several film documentary scores such as Heroines and Prisoners of Age. This year sees John create three scores for various Dutch ensembles and a Cello Concerto for Peggy Lee and Vancouver's Turning Point Ensemble. John is the recipient of The Canada Council's Joseph S. Stauffer Prize and the second Canadian to be awarded the prestigious Civitella Ranieri Fellowship in Umbria, Italy. ....
