——’ the Gallagher to be invested Former Capilano College Principal Paul Gallagher was one of 70 Canadians appointed to the Order of Canada on July 1. Gallagher, who is now President of Vancouver Community College, received the honour for his devotion to improving Canadian Education and his many activities in such organizations as the ACCC and. the Canadian Studies Foundation. Gallagher said that he was notified formally of the appointment on the 26th of June and he will be going to Ottawa in November for the investiture at Rideau Hall. Meanwhile, when asked how things were going over at VCC, Gallagher replied that the situation was normal. "It's a madhouse," he said. Students win national competition Major congratulations are in order for the graduating students of the Computer Systems Management program who have won a national computer competition. July 7, 1986 informer _Exhibition opens here The North Shore Clay, Fibre and Native Arts - Expo 86 group will be holding a special juried exhibition here at Cap from August 1 to 20. Sponsored by the Expo Special Events Committee, the show will feature 50 North Shore and Howe Sound artists exhibiting new works revolving around the theme of Expo. Coordinator Conchita Furstenwald is delighted with the quality of the works (which she and her husband have already photographed for the show catalogue) and is looking forward to the opening. The show will also coincide with an international conference of artists being held at UBC and delegates from that conference will be bussed to Cap to see the exhibition. Among the persons involved in the show are ceramic artists Judy Cranmer, (photo above), Barbara Barron, Ron Tribe, and Peter Baker; fibre artists Susan Lopateki, and Cathy Robertson; and textile artist Mary Frame. Names familiar to Capilano College include instructors Donna McLaren, Rose Naumann and Bob Kingsmill, and Mary Bentley (wife of Ted Bentley).
