Informer $= Capilano = College Staff Career Development Lynne Hamilton, Committee Chair Local 2945 Voice-Mail 3277 GREETINGS FROM THE CHAIR My new role as Staff Career Development Committee Chair brings many challenges - one of them is to test my writing skills by bringing greetings and writing a brief biography to let you know about my past and present College, committee and community involvement. On behalf of the Committee I would first like to thank Carol McQuarrie for her outstanding four year commitment as Committee Chair. Many of you are already familiar with my past and sometimes outrageous antics on campus, but there are also many support staff that I have yet to meet. The Staff Career Development Conference presents the perfect opportunity to do this. So who am I? ¢ A Prairie person who migrated to Vancouver in the late 70’s. I have worked in educational institutions for 25 years, and in the (ARC) Achievement Resource Centre as a Divisional Assistant for the past 15. A "lifer" in the department of learning, I came to Cap from the U. of “Winterpeg” Counselling Dept., bringing with me energy and commitment to assist students to overcome barriers to learning. ¢ Committee work at Cap has included serving on the Health & Safety Committee and chairing the College’s United Way Campaign for a number of years. I am also one of the original members of the creative and hard working Staff Career Development Committee. ¢ An ENFP (Extravert, Intuitive, Feeling, Perceptor) as defined by the Myers Briggs Type Indicator, which means that it is okay for me to be “off the wall” at times, and quite within the normal range for me to be involved in the performing arts; tapping and singing in & printed on recycled paper variety shows for hospitals, seniors centres, and fundraisers. I am an enthusiast who plays at playing the piano, creative writing, gardening and am often found working with a team organizing projects such as : The 1994 Staff Career Development Conference By the time you read this, you will have received your Staff Career Development Conference brochure and registered in one of our six full-day sessions.
