Porn bill—is it censorship?

The B.C. Library Association has serious concerns
about the impact of Bill C-54 on intellectual freedom
in Canada, and they have put together a package
outlining some of the potential implications of this
Bill. To briefly sum up their views: “The all-
encompassing definition of pornography will result in
a limitation of access to material in libraries,
including material on sex education. It will result in
censorship and the stifling of the creative works of

Job opportunity

The Curriculum Development Branch of the Ministry
of Education is seeking applications for three
educators interested in assisting in the development
of one or more of the following projects:

* a revised Economics 12 program

¢arevised Marketing 12 program

* two resource books for Social Studies 4-11

* support for the Pacific Rim Conference

* monitoring a contract which will be developed

to do a comparative study of selected aspects of

the Japanese and B.C. education system.
All projects will emphasize the Asia Pacific region of
the Pacific Rim. The secondments are for one year
beginning early in 1988, and the deadline for
applications is December 11, 1987.
