Ihe Applied Business Technology

and Legal Assistant programs are
announcing their intention to establish
the Martha Mackay Memorial
Endowment Fund.

Martha was a valued member of the
College community. In 1977, she was a
student in the Business Office Training
program but, before she graduated, the
department plucked her out of the
classroom and hired her as its
receptionist/clerk typist. Martha
eventually became divisional assistant
for the Applied Business Technology
and Legal Assistant departments.

Although her educational and
working years were spent exclusively in
these departments, Martha was known
throughout the College, from the
registration area to all levels of
administration. She was quick to
volunteer for committee work and

assisted with every graduation.

Martha was a great ambassador for
Capilano College. Faculty, staff and
students could rely on Martha for the
answer to the myriad of questions about
the College in general. Prospective
students and employers alike found
Martha an invaluable resource for the
20 years that she worked here.

It is with great fondness that we
remember Martha, not only for these
explicit contributions, but also for her
kindness, support and friendship
throughout the years.

Would you please convey to those people at the College involved in contributing to
the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation in Martha’s memory my sincere appreciation
for this very warm and thoughtful gesture. This only confirms my long-held belief
that Capilano College must be a great place to work because of the outstanding
people who are employed there.
