THE INFORMER PAGE 4 DECEMBER 1, 1989 PEOPLE Two of the College's originals passed away in the last week. Bill McPhee, one of our first librarians and creator of the film department, died after a long illness. Bill, who travelled all over the States arranging film acquisitions with several universities (an arrangement which remains in use today) was known especially for his love of wearing shorts (and his "knobbly knees") says colleague Sharon Feyer, who smiles when speaking of him, and says "he was a delight to work with". A memorial service will be held for Bill Wednesday, December 6 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Stephens Anglican Church, 885 22nd St. West Van. If desired, donations to the West Vancouver Memorial Library Building Fund would be appreciated. Averil McCreadie, one of the original staff members in Financial Services, died on Wednesday. A flower lover and health enthusiast, Averil was a "very caring person to work with," says Rose Wilson. "She always came over with a hug if she thought you looked down." Averil worked in financial services for ten years, and she was cashier before she retired. The funeral services will be on Sunday, December 3 at 3 p.m. at the Church of Latter Day Saints on 3333 Kaslo Street in Vancouver. Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the Hope Health Centre or to Neighbours of the World. A letter to Wayne Eastcott (Printmaking) from Bill Laing, professor in the art department at the University of Calgary: First of all, let me thank you for inviting our students at the University of Calgary to be part of this very exciting project you are coordinating—The Travelling Student Print Exhibition. You must be complimented on your initiative and creativity. I would very much like to work on future projects between our two schools, possibly exchanging faculty and student exhibitions and visiting artist programs. I look forward to seeing your students’ work, Frank Gelin, Dean of Academic Studies, has agreed to serve on a research panel for a project sponsored by the Canadian Comprehensive Auditing Foundation (CCAF). The project involves testing a formal audit process developed by the CCAF for measuring and evaluating effectiveness in public sector institutions. The existing model has never been tested before, so this project will be the first of its kind in Canada. : is December 6 Eva Hall (Merchandising Management) has been appointed Chairperson of the B.C.
