The ceremony to instal the institution's first-ever chancellor gets underway at 7 p.m. at the Sportsplex. That evening, the school community will gather at the North Vancouver campus for the inaugural convocation ceremony which will include the installation of the institution's first-ever chancellor, vicechancellor and president. Founded in 1968 as Capilano College, the school was officially redesignated as Capilano University by the provincial government in September. Greg Lee, Capilano's president and vice-chancellorelect, says that change requires certain governance structures be put in place before degrees can be granted.
