Designing instructors featured in cross-Canada tour

Marion Llewellyn and John Long, both
instructors in the Graphic Design & Illus-
tration Program, were recently featured in
the Graphic Designers of Canada exhibit,
which started in Vancouver and travelled to
Montreal. One of Marion’s pieces was
singled out for an award of Design Excel-
lence.

Both instructors own a design consul-
tancy which has received more than 100
awards over the past 10 years . Their work
has been shown in San Francisco, Los
Angeles, Toronto and Paris. John Long’s il- —
lustration and Marion’s design were pro- &
filed in Germany’s leading design magazine,
Novum Gerbrausgraphik, and printed in
five languages.

Marion has been a guest lecturer at the
University of Alberta. She has also lectured
to professional designers and illustrators at
the Robson Square Media Centre.

John is working for a new business about to open in
Poland. Marion is producing graphic design for the
Centre for the Arts, Simon Fraser University. Their
clients range from individuals to large corporations.

The faculty of Graphic Design & Illustration nomi-
nated Marion to attend a four-day conference at the
Schooi of Visual Arts in New York City in late October.
The conference, titled “Liberal Arts and the Education
of Artists,” allowed participants to exchange ideas and
information on the education of artists.

Marion Llewellyn and John Long display some of the work they
exhibited recently in in the Graphic Designers of Canada cross-
country exhibit. One of Marion's pieces won an award for design
excellence.
