The core programme for full-time students may be enriched by adding electives selected from the Art, Business, or Academic disciplines. Typical Retail Fashions courses are: History of Fashion Fabrics for the Fashion Industry Clothing Design and Construction Merchandising Fashion Photography Fashion Illustration Display Modelling Interior Design History of Furniture Cii ... An on-the-job work experience is included to precipitate the student directly into the field. Students work Fridays and Saturdays during the term in fashion related areas of department stores, specialty stores, and boutiques. In the fall and spring terms, students participate in buyers' weeks at the Vancouver Merchandise Mart. Suggested study areas for students not yet at the college level are Home Economics, Commerce, (typing, book-keeping), Art, and Crafts.
