There has been a real upswing in the venerable art of siphoning gasoline in the last few weeks and more than a few people have found their expensive fill-ups gone when they returned to their cars. Indian Art expert lectures Of general interest to everyone is a special speaker who will be lecturing to the Crafts department at Cap on Friday, Dec. 3 at 10 am. Well known author, lecturer and authority on Northwest Coast Indian Art, Hilary Stewart, will be speaking about the Salish people and their weaving, as well as the significance of the cedar tree in all aspects of Northwest Coast Indian life. Cap Review gets new Editor Anne Rosenberg, from Humanities, has the distinction of being the new Editor of the Capilano Review. The Review, for those of you unfamiliar with it, is a high quality literary/art magazine that has been produced at the college for the last decade. Pierre Coupey started the magazine and edited the first nine issues, followed by Bill Shermbrucker. Now, with issue 24/5, Anne Rosenberg has taken over the reins. The Capilano Review, which jis funded by the College and Canada Council, is prepared for publication by an editorial board of students and faculty. 500 individuals and 250 major libraries in Canada and abroad subscribe to the magazine which is considered to be one of the finest publications of its kind in Canada. Among the well-known people who have been published in the Review are Margaret Atwood, Michael Ondaatje, bp Nichol, Audrey Thomas, Jack Shadbolt and Arthur Erickson. Says Anne: ''The magazine continues to publish the best of the experimental fiction, poetry, art and photography that it can discover.'' With the publication of Issue 24/5—a special double volume on the art and performances of Gathie Falk—The Cap Review is embarking on an in-college drive for new subscriptions. Faculty and staff will be receiving information on subscriptions which the Review claims ''are a bargain at $9.00 for four issues."' Prince George poet coming The next reading in the Cap Reading series will be taking place Thursday, Dec. 2 at 8 pm in the Cafetheatre and will feature Barry McKinnon. McKinnon is a Prince George poet who was runner-up for the Governor General's award in 1981. Poetry and Prose Readings are free and open to all persons interested in attending. capilano college
