Board of governors _announced Business coach and former ICBC vice-president, Linda Robertson, has been re-elected chair of the 2006/07 Capilano College board of governors. Pat Dejong, area manager for BMO Bank of Montreal, has been re-elected vice chair. Continuing their appointments are John Webster, Brian Smith (Sechelt), Karen Hodson, Richard Davies, Tom Adair, Daryl Collier, faculty representative Melanie Fahlman Reid, staff representative Shoshana Somerville and student representative Benjamin Newsom. Nonvoting board members include College president, Dr. Greg Lee, and chair of the Education Council, Dr. Robert Campbell. to expand its outreach into the community,” said Hugh Millar, chair of the Eldercollege board of directors. “As well, we can improve our program offerings by bringing in some very special speakers for our members and the community at large.” As a result of the gift, Eldercollege will be running programs at Parkgate Community Centre, John Braithwaite Community Centre, the Summerhill Retirement Residence, West Vancouver Seniors Centre, and Park Royal Shopping Centre. Expanded offerings mean more people will be enjoying the already popular Eldercollege programs. “Already, our fall figures show an increase in registration,” says Lynn Jest, director of Continuing Education at Capilano College. By Dr. Robert Campbell : At. its October. meeting Education Council gave final approval to the Environmental Sciences Project Management postgraduate citation, the Environmental Sciences Project Management postgraduate | certificate, and the advanced © certificate in Professional Communications. Council also gave approval in principle to the Residential Building Maintenance Worker program. The program will be based in Sechelt and will train people to maintain and Tepe buildings. Council approved a change | in. the accepted citation style that must appear on all course outlines. For years the accepted style has been the MLA (Modern Languages Association) format. We will now also accept the APA (American Psychological Association) format on course outlines. Not a big change, I realize, but it will help those _ faculty members who teach the _ APA format in their classes, but were forced to use MLA format on their-course outlines.
