June 29/00 Human Resources update Testing tip — increase your SAT score SAT is short for Speed and Accuracy Test. This test is used to assess keyboarding skills, and is required in jobs where data entry typing and general keyboarding is used. Candidates are scored on accurate words per minute keyboarded in a five-minute period of time. The score required is dependent on the job position and can vary from 55-70 words per minute. It is usually a matter of practice to increase a score. Remember that this is copy typing, So it is important to type from a written text that you are not familiar with. Some employees have found the software program called Mavis Beacon to be helpful. This is a typing tutorial that is loaded on the testing computer in the Birch building, room 421. If you would like to book an appointment to use the tutorial and practice your keyboarding skills, call Tanya at local 2098. Summer testing and tutorials Looking to enter a competition in the fall?
