Particular areas of concern include: ¢ the stop sign located at the top of Purcell Way, adjacent to the bus stop. Many vehicles don’t even slow down at this location when exiting the campus, much less stop for the pedestrian crosswalk. ¢ the traffic lights at Lillooet Road and Purcell Way. Drivers must stop when the light is red before making a right- hand turn. When turning left, remember that there is a crosswalk that may have pedestrians in it. Many of our students and co-workers have mobility problems, so please slow down, and use your road sense! Submitted by the Transportation Committee discussion on Canadian women composers; fashion historian Ivan Sayers, who will give a featured noon- hour presentation on Waisted Efforts: from Victorian to Punk; and Margaret Denike from Women’s Studies, who will discuss Historical Mythologies of Sexual Difference; plus much more. One of the day’s highlight’s will be the tenth annual Mary Catherine Paterson Memorial Lecture. This year’s guest speaker is eminent psychiatrist and feminist Dr. Susan Penfold, whose subject will be Shame and Blame: Obstacles to Recovery from Sexual Abuse by Health Professionals.
