In this course David Levy, an incredibly ex- perfienced journalist whose credits include being the Moscow Bureau Chief for CBC News wlll be teaching would-be journalists or just people interested in the field about the nature of news and the craft of.writ- ing for print and broadcast. There will] be lectures, field work, written submissions and analysis, and there jis but one prere- quisite--a typing speed of 30 wpm. By the way, he's not kidding about the typing, so don't bother trying for an exception. How- ever, if you don't have the typing you can always take Touch Typing: The Keyboard in Two Days on Sept. 27 and 28 and then sign up and practice for the next section of Journalism which will start October 28. They jump on the bed, or kick the tires of the automobile at least. But when buyers sheli out tens of thousands of dollars for a condominium, amazingly they ask very few questions about what they're getting. In order to inform prospective buyers about the ins and outs of ownership, including legalities, obligations and such, Gerry Fanaken, President of Vancouver Strata Services is instructing a workshop — on Buying a Condominium. Now, if you're an owner or property manager, don't tune out because he's also running a course on the B.C. Strata Titles Act. That will be an all day workshop on September 27. Buying a Condominium is a one night workshop, but it will be repeated--it runs on October 7, November 4 and December 2 from 7:30 to 10. On Saturday September 27 there will be three seminars: Start in the Middle, for women at a decisive point in mid life; Writing for Women, a two session course on women. considering a career in the writing field; and On Being Single or How to Be Happily Unmarried. This last is for women and men who are not happy with being single and would like to learn strategies for life on their own--it'll be held over lunch at the Park Royal Hotel.
