You have two chances coming up to drown your sorrow conveniently -- on Wednesday is the Student Society's last Pub Night from 4 to 7 pm in the South Cafe with a cover charge of $1.50. Then, if you survive that you can go to the Christmas party and eat, drink and be merry to ex- cess for $5 which, if the spread is any- thing like previous years, is a great bar- gain. Do not eat before you go to the Xmas party. It is being held from 4 - 8 pm in the North Cafe on Thursday and we would recommend getting tickets in advance. The tickets are available from the Reception desk in B building, Lynn Kroetlinger in NF building, the Cashier in the Tower and Business Management in NB. A highlight of the Christmas Party will be the awarding of the prize in the Office Decorating contest. Stu- dents: if you missed last year's contest don't miss this one. Make up any excuse- on Thursday to visit the various admini- stration offices on campus - we can rec- commend the Account- ing office, the Typ- ing Pool and of course the Deans' Den. Capilano College may be a great place for education, but as far as charity goes it's the worst institution in B.C. Of all the colleges, universities, and institutes we have the lowest percentage participation in the United Way campaign--5%. The dona- tions so far received average 1.4¢ per day per person (that includes staff, faculty and administration). If you are interested in raising that unfortunate record there is still time to pledge. Talk to the Pay- roll department before the end of the month. If you are spending a lot of money buying unnecessary knick-knacks for people for Christmas think about giving something far more useful to the United Way. Open House draws good crowd The Sechelt Open House held last Wednesday was attended by 60 people (not including us!1!1), most visiting the Centre for the first time. On hand to talk to them were Hilda Rizun, Chairman of the Board, Brian Hodgins, Bowen Island member of the Board, Paul Gallagher and the Deans, Bob Bagshaw of Counselling, Connie Gibbs, Financial Aid, Greg Sharpe, Admissions, Louise Krohn C.E., Janet Morris and the Sechelt in- structors. Our Registrar Dave Woolley, set up one of his computer terminals and. registered people for courses while April and Janice, the Sechelt movers-and-shakers for -Cap, managed everybody © admirably. Among the distinguished guests greeting our distinguished representatives were the Mayor and an Alderman of Sechelt.
