Fran~ois Houle (Franc;ois Houle - reeds, Paul Dolden - guitar, cello, violin, John Korsrud
- trumpet) This workshop will analyze the stylistic aspects and shared influences in New
Music and Jazz Improvisation.
October 29 (3:00 pm-4:30 pm)
Music and Dance Improvisation (Peter Bingham - dancer, Jaci Metivier - dancer, Gregg
Simpson - percussion) The focus of this workshop will be on exploring the relationship of
improvisation in music and dance.
November 5, 12, 26
(3:00 pm-4:30 pm)
Preparation for Student Concert
Coat Cooke and Ron Samworth, and Dylan VanDer Schyff will help to prepare the
students for their performance at the end of the workshop series. This will entail utilizing
material from all of the workshops, and incorporating it into material to be performed by
the student ensemble.
November 27
8:00 pm
Student ensemble/NOW Orchestra Concert
Concert featuring work by VCC students that have participated in all the workshops, and
the NOW Orchestra performing work from its repertoire.
