PAUL PLIMLEY Since the mid 1970's Paul Plimley has been actively developing his music out of the continuum of American and European music traditions. He has played with many great improvisers in jazz and new music from around the globe. These musicians include Cecil Taylor, Derek Bailey, Andrew Cyrille, Lisle Ellis, Buell Neidlinger, Charlie Haden, Barry Guy, William Parker, Gerry Hemingway, George Lewis, Joe Mcphee, Hamid Drake, Mark Dresser, and Han Bennink, to name a few. He has received rave reviews from the North American and European music press for his numerous recordings and festival performances. One example: check out any edition of the Penguin Guide To Jazz Recordings. He plays the piano, vibraphone, marimba, guitar and synthesizer. Plimley has released over 30 CDs, LPs and TV music documentaries which have been well received by many who show a passion for music beyond disco. His hundreds of compositions cover all media: orchestra, jazz bands, solo piano/marimba/guitar, CD ROM, electronic music, music for modern dance, and movie soundtracks. Plimley has toured extensively throughout Europe and North America since the late 1970's.and toured China with the Mei Han Quartet playing 10 concerts and giving 2 workshops.
