"Lear" PRESS RELEASE Cap Theatre proudly presents a contemporary staging of Shakespeare's "King Lear". Using the power and purpose of the original text, we draw from both present and future for the costumes and set design. The violence and cruelty portrayed in "Lear" are timeless, as are the multiple conflicts the characters are thrown into. Some of the non-traditional elements included in this production are: an on stage chorus, mask, and the character of Lear being portrayed Bunraku style. In the latter, two actors represent Lear, one as the body and one as the voice and spirit. "Lear" will be presented at Presentation House, 333 Chesterfield, North Vancouver, March 17th, 18th, 19th, 22nd - 26th, at 8:00 p.m. nightly. There will be a special performance Tuesday the 22nd, beginning at 7:30 p.m. in order to allow time for a post performance discussion. Tickets are $4.00 in advance, $5.00 at the door. A special group rate of $3.50 per ticket is also available for groups of ten or more. For reservations or more information please call Presentation House at 986-1351. We look forward to seeing you there. Alison Miller, Publicity Manager Cap Theatre
