High Honour Goes to North Shore Resident ongtime North Shore resident, Bruce Pearsall, is this year’s winner of the Governor General’s Collegiate Bronze Medal. The medal, awarded by the Office of the Governor General, His Excellency the Right Honourable Romeo Le Blanc, is presented at Capilano College once a year to the student who achieves the highest academic standing in a diploma-level, post-secondary program of two years duration or more. This is the most prestigious honour given at Capilano College for academic achievement and it was bestowed upon Pearsall at the College’s spring graduation ceremony on May 25. Bruce is a graduate from Argyle Secondary, as well as a graduate of part from the May sunshine and early abandoned campus, there are some staff changes to report. College receptionist (on call) positions were filled by: Dorothy Holmes, Bronwen Pencarrick and Lesley Cox. Afsar Jah was appointed to the position of program assistant for the Cost Shared Programs/ABE/ESL division and Bronwen Pencarrick will be replacing Dale Webb as the new registration/admissions assistant I. He is presently employed with Cloverdale Paint as a programmer/analyst, where he writes new systems for point of sale and accounts receivable. O Knight, secretary to the vice president of the Career & Vocational division, and Ethel Sviatko, research assistant to the bursar and Career & Vocational division, will be retiring this summer. A special mention goes to Taffy Hughes, maintenance worker II who retired in April. Many knew him as the man on a ladder! He will be missed by all.
