I am writing to thank you for lending Capilano your recent support in our pursuit of
regional university designation. Your endorsement has infused our campaign with a
powerful message that we trust will help us reach a successful conclusion.
Our journey towards regional university designation began on April 24, the day after
Geoff Plant’s Campus 2020 report was released. We have managed to accomplish a
lot in a very short period of time, including four newspaper ads (one with your name
listed as an endorser) and a meeting with the Minister of Advanced Education, Murray
Coell. Joining us in Victoria were our five regional MLAs who, we are very pleased to
say, have become strong backers of our endeavour. We came away from the meeting
feeling encouraged, but still firmly committed to the pursuit of our goal.
Over the summer months, we plan to be as visible as possible by attending numerous
community events on the North Shore and encouraging people to join our effort, either
by signing a petition or by visiting our campaign website at capilanonow.ca. The
location of these events will be listed on our main website at capcollege.bc.ca, where
we’ll also be including updates on our progress.
Again, thank you very much for your endorsement. As a token of our appreciation,
please find enclosed an “easy peel” bumper sticker (meaning that it won’t leave any
sticky residue behind when you remove it), a copy of the ad we ran that listed your
name as an endorser, and a brochure with a detailed outline of our case.
