NEPAL STUDENTS GEAR UP If anyone had told you: a few years ago that the college would be sponsoring a field trip to Nepal, you very likely would have thought they were a little unhinged. But, in only a few months’ 30 students from age 19 to 57, along with instructors Terry Brown, Karen Lind, and Carole Stanhkey (Bi- ology prof from UBC). will be heading to Nepal for 24 months. Understandably they are getting rather excited about it. Right now the students are getting prepared in- tellectually and physically -= on the one hand by means of lectures on the economy, geography, art and religions of the land, and by their own readings, and on the oth- er hand by working up their own personal fitness levels and hiking up the Lions on weekends. Since they are going to be hik- ing to an elevation of 18,000 feet in the Himalayas they'll need to be in shape. The courses that the students will be taking in Katmandu are Geography 249, Anthropol- ogy 249 and Biology 105. And in case .syou ’ didn't know, the name of the university In Katmandu is Tribhuvan University.
