New faces continued (officially known as the typing pool), we have two new temporary Word Processing operators - Jane Campbell and Judy Granger. There are four groundskeepers on a four month contract here (and you can really see the difference!). Credit for vast improvements in the outlook from our office windows goes to Farzad Farshi, Ken Nicholson, Alan Hurlburt and Shawn King. There are various departures and arrivals on faculty, among which are Andree Vajda-Janyk, who has left the Outdoor Recreation Department, and Lila Plant, who retired this summer from Office Administration. Two familiar faces that are back this fall are Marsha Trew, who is back running the Women’s Resource Centre, and Bev Reid, who is teaching in Media Resources. And finally, just to make matters confusing, Terry Hood has flown off for New Zealand and is being replaced as CASP Coordinator until December by Terry Adler, formerly coordinator of the Long Term Care program. This is really going to confuse people who ask for “Terry” and get a female voice saying “Hi, I’m Terry.” Goodbye, welcome or congratulations everyone, as appropriate. Music department terror cont. Undaunted by its savage aspect, the intrepid Carol (veteran handler of musicians) and resolute Mike Reveley cornered the beast. Having first determined that it couldn’t play any instruments and had no other discernible musical talent, they decided that it must belong in another department. Biology seemed a reasonable bet, and indeed, the mouse turned out to have come from the Biology Lab where it had been taken for dinner—or more accurately, AS dinner—for the boa constrictors. It was promptly and heartlessly returned to Barry Williamson from whom it had escaped the previous day. Life is presumably now back to whatever might be considered “normal” in Music at this time of year. More Board changes Mr. Doug Vincent resigned from the College Board, effective September 1, making a total of eight on the Board at this time, three of whom are new. Return that survey! If you have been sitting and cogitating about your Internal Evaluation survey, please get going and fill it out now! The Internal Evaluation Steering Committee is anxious to hear what you have to say, and this is your chance to comment on what works, and what needs to be changed or improved about this college. If you have lost the survey you can get an additional copy from Karen Ewing in Social Sciences, or one of the other members of the Steering Committee (Penny Connnell, Bill Gibson, Dave Jones, Shawn King, Lynne Kroetlinger, Anne Morley, Juliet Pendray, Alan Smith, Joy Smith and Eleanor Worman). This is an important evaluation process and it is vital that they get contributions from EVERYONE in the College community. Informer mix-up In case you follow these things, we ought to tell you that the Aug. 24 issue which was labelled Vol. IX, No. 13 was only masquerading as such—it is really #14. The Real #13 was a very short issue that came out June 22 (it was so short, in fact, that we lost it). So this is really #15 and you haven't missed one. COLOPHON However sporadically the Informer may appear in your mail, it is valiantly attempting to come out at least every two weeks during the Fall and Spring terms. This scurrilous sheet is produced by the Public Relations Department, room A118, local 2903 or 2002, and submissions are greeted with joy and delight. Photos are generally taken by Edna Sakata in MPC and prepared for publication by Dave Sharrock. Printing is done by Linda Givens and Dave Callow in the Print Shop and distribution is handled by the denizens of the mail room/typing pool. There is a rumour that Donna McMahon is the editor of all this, but she’ll deny it vehemently.
