THIS WEEK: Nothing happened. No tip sheets were returned. The college didn't float away.

The bus shelter/paper boy shack didn't collapse. The cafeteria didn't catch on fire.....

MHELPIIL!'' screamed Brian White as he slid
off the side of Mt. Vancouver in an ava-
lanche. For those of you who haven't seen
him wandering around campus, pursued by
hoards of reporters, he's back and in one
piece. Had he not dug his ice ax.in and

had someone hanging onto his rope, however
he would have had to be dug out 4000 feet
further down the mountain. The Mt. Van-
couver expedition, by the way, was quite a
success. Although the team didn't reach
the actual 15,800! summit of the mountain,
they came within 250 metres of it. Winds
of 80 km/hr produce quite a chill factor
in -15°C weather and: forced the climbers

to give up the summit attempt. Team mem-
bers Roger Griffiths, Brian White, Brent
Ash, Rob McLaren, Al Richardson, and

David Tinewell will long remember this
avalanche-filled climb. And they have no
intentions of trying it again.
