Studio Art grad, Cyril Seme, is on his way to Austria. Printmaking grad Austria bound Studio Art graduate, Cyril Seme, has been awarded a two-month artist-in-residency in Austria where living, working and production facilities will be made available to him. The 1989 alumnus was chosen through submissions of work he completed while enrolled in printmaking at Capilano College. “T believe I succeeded due to my own efforts, great institutional support, and the support of my instructor, Wayne Eastcott,” he says. “The Printmaking department at Capilano College was instrumental in my successful endeavours and creative aspirations. I know that many other students and practising artists will greatly benefit from the support and knowledge of Mr. Eastcott.” Capilano College makes history Submitted by Dr. Penny Connell It’s full steam ahead with the history project —the past 35 years at Capilano College — and time for your input. The College History committee encourages you to place your anecdotes and memories on the link called The History Project found at the top of the intranet’s home page. We are collecting entries, later to be compiled with photographs and other print memorabilia, to celebrate the careers or experiences of College employees and students. Remember how much we all enjoyed reading Barry Williamson’s letters from Asia? Well, here’s your big chance! If you have a fond memory — something from the College’s past, a tribute to an outstanding individual, information of interest which only you can contribute — please post it on the history project’s intranet site. Pieces already received will be posted as samples and guides to jog your memory and whet your appetite. We are also very interested to see the photos you've taken over the years of your colleagues. She has also held senior fundraising positions at Vancouver General Hospital and Children’s Hospital Foundations. While she has only been at the College for two months, Aderita is clearly excited about the promise and potential she has seen. “I've been so impressed by the enthusiasm of the people I've met and the beauty of the environment,” she says. “I’m encouraged by the quality and commitment of Foundation employees, Christine Craft and Susan Webster, and volunteers such as Shamshad Jaffer and other community leaders on the Foundation board. It’s also been a pleasure to see so many College employees involved on the various committees which I’ve attended.” More online
