Business Management has Vision The Business Management Communications Committee has had strong support from within the department this year regarding implementation of “Writing Across the Curriculum” (WAC) in its courses. Bruce Moseley, Hilary Clark, John Barber, Cam McKie, and Jessie Pendygrasse have met during Spring term and as a result, the BSMG faculty has adopted a “Vision Statement” which will appear on all course outlines in BSMG this fall. The statement reads: “The graduating student shall demonstrate competence in the use of the English language, interpersonal skills, and analytical thinking.” To initiate faculty development in WAC, several workships were held in May before and after the four-day WAC meetings. Reid Gilbert from Humanities chose basic grammar and English usage as his learning experience. Participants had fun on a computer and enjoyed Reid’s wit throughout the workshop. Bev Reid from Communications led a workshop in the Dynamics lab where faculty marked oral presentations and compared grades under Bev’s excellent supervision. Several faculty members were filmed while telling an anecdote from their experiences, then the film was replayed for the group. — Jessie Pendygrasse Informer Deadlines The /nformer will be published on the following dates: September 20 October 4, 18 November 1, 15, 29 December 13 Deadlines will be: September 13, 27 October 11, 25 November 18, 22 December 6 Please send your copy and/or photos to Jane Hamilton in the P.R. office before the above dates. |
