Achievements

Congratulations to Diane Parker,
Library Assistant II, who completed her

Library Technician Diploma this spring.

Diane’s duties in Technical Services
include processing periodicals.

Another library staffer, Robyn
Janssens, starts on her diploma program
this fall.

Fall Workshops

This year our theme is “Workplace
Awareness.” In October we'll be
presenting, along with a number of
other college committees, a viewing
and discussion of “The Chilly Climate,”
a video which explores the issues that
“poison” the working and learning
environment for women in colleges and
universities. This event will be open to
everyone.

In November a workshop on Sexual
Harassment will be offered. Dates and
details on these workshops will be
forthcoming.There’s a good possibility
that our 93 Career Development Day
will expand into two days, giving staff
members the opportunity to attend ONE
day for a full day workshop, rather than
the half-day workshops offered the last

indicated that longer workshops would
be more effective.

topics; direction for the committee;
anything that relates to career develop-
ment are welcomed by the committee. I

committee members.

The two-year terms of Wendy
Weberg and Dianella Knight are up in
October so two members will be elected
that month. The committee meets once
a month, is representative of all areas of
the college, and really does work on
your behalf —Don’t be fooled by the
picture on this page!

Check the Vertical File under “Staff
Development” for some current course
catalogues including those from Justice
Institute, SFU Harbor Centre, Continu-
ing Education Departments of UBC,
Vancouver School Board, BCIT.
Check Article 19.3 of the collective
agreement for “Training Leave-Em-
ployee.”

And don’t forget our own Extension
Programs Fall catalogue. You may be
eligible for 3 courses (credit free) in the
calendar year. Article 29.10 of the CA
will give you details.
