BlUES SOCIETY We are very proud to have produced 16 concerts since last August, including rare moments with Max Roach Quartet, Willem Breuker Kollektief, Dewey Redman Quartet, Chick Corea Elektric Band, David Sanborn, ... well, you know what we're taking ahout! Of course the most spectacular and exhilarating event of '88 was the third annual du Maurier International Jazz Festival Vancouver. The music created by the 400 plus local, national and international artists was consistently outstanding; providing new discoveries and many different highlights for your many different ears and individual tastes. The 1988 du Maurier International Jazz Festival has been our most successful to date attracting an audience in excess of 65,000 and increasing our paid attendance by more than 50% over the 1987 Festival. This means that we are in good shape for next year's International Jazz Festival which will take place June 23 - July 2. 1989. Between now and then we have planned a regular diet of tasty jazz, blues and creative improvised music to satisfy your hungry ears. Please see the reverse side of this page for our complete schedule of fall '88 productions, including Time Flies, a special 5 day concert series, November 1 - 5, featuring international artists and member groups of Vancouver's New Orchestra Workshop. Vancouver's jazz scene is getting better all the time and with your continuing support it can grow to unprecedented proportions. We welcome all feedback, so please write us a letter to the address below or call us for up-to-the-beat information on the Jazz Hotline (682-0706).
