September 13, 1982 Volume IV No. 22 Budget may be tight, but there is an enormous eanely of students No, it wasn't just your imagination that registration seemed unusually hectic ‘this year -- statistics from the Registrar's office show that our registration is up 21% from last fall, or an increase of 631 students, full and part-time. That breaks down as a 15% increase in full-time Aca- demic students, no increase at all in full time Career (they were full last year and they're full again this year), a 21% in- crease in part-time Career students and a whopping 49% increase in part-time Aca- demic students. "Many of the people listed as part-time are there because they could not get the programs they wanted,'' pointed out Principal Paul Gallagher. Since we are running the same number of courses as last year, this increase means that classes are larger. ''Courses are over 90% full,'' said Gallagher, ''and virtually every first year course is full or over-subscribed.'' Last fall there were 900 people on waiting lists for courses -- this fall there are 1600 on those lists, a number which does not even take into consideration people who enquired about courses over the phone and found they were full.
