The musical highlights were provided by Gay Alcock, pianist and piano instructor who played several pieces by Ravel, and by Judith Forst, mezzo soprano, who sang excerpts from Carmen and The Barber of Seville. Speakers included Ed ~ Lavalle, Hilda Rizun, Paul Gallagher, Jim Matkin of the Employer's Council, Judith Carle, a Cap graduate, and Barbara Perrault, speaking for the community. Bob Cook, Chair of the Campaign, was very pleased with the response at the concert and says that "discussion has already started on how to continue the process of involving the community in overcoming the financial difficulties of the college." Crafts showing upcoming The Craft Department is presenting two spring showings of selected work by first and second year students. The first showing is scheduled for A117 from April 9 to 19, and the second for Six of One Studio Gallery on Granville Island from April 23 to 30. The hours of the latter will be afternoons from 1 to 5 pm except Mondays. Sign up for workshop, panel The Instructional Skills workshops coming up this spring have only four places left, warns Hilary Clark. Clark also notes that ''Excellence in Teaching'', the panel discussion to be held May 16, is open to all faculty and staff, and any students still around. Films to be previewed Two NFB films, ''In Love and Anger'' about poet Milton Acorn, and "Alden Nowlan' will be shown in the Preview Room, B109, in April. Each film will be shown several times from Monday the 15th to Thursday the 18th—more information will be upcoming in the next Informer. B. Eastcott lectures at gallery Wayne Eastcott will be lecturing on the exhibition of his own work at the Crown Gallery, 560 Beatty St., next week. His exhibition opened Saturday at the gallery and continues until April 27th. The two lectures will be on Tuesday, April 9 at 8 pm, and Thursday, April 11 at 10 am. There is no fee or registration procedure for these lectures—if you are interested, just be at the gallery at those times. For further information on the gallery you can phone 684-5407. Media Centre hours For students who need to get in some cramming in the Library, or anyone else who wants to visit the Media Centre, here are their Easter hours. They will be closed on Good Friday, Saturday the 6th, and Easter Monday, but they will be OPEN on Easter Sunday from 1 to 5 pm. Pearson students hold concert "Around the World in 80 Minutes'', an international concert of music, dancing, and singing by the students of Lester B. Pearson College of the Pacific, will be held April 12 at 8 pm at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. The students come from all the provinces and territories of Canada and from 60 countries around the world. Tickets are $5, $6, and $7 and are on sale at VTC/CBO outlets.
