Dear Dr. Piper
On May 16, 2003 by Order In Council, Capilano College was granted the authority to
grant, in its own name, the four degrees which have formed the basis for the
partnership between the BCOU and Capilano College, in some cases for more than a
decade. They are the Bachelor of Music Therapy, Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies,
Bachelor of Tourism Management, and Bachelor of Business Administration.
It is our hope that this will not change the nature of our relationship with the BCOU but
rather provide yet another altemative for the students of the province. Capilano
College will continue to support the partnership articulation arrangements and there
will, no doubt, be students who will take programs and courses at Capilano for whom
the BCOU will be the institution through which they receive their degree. Whatever
happens in the future with the BCOU, Capilano College will continue to work
cooperatively for the benefit of all students.
Please express to the Board, the employees, and particularly the Academic Council, our
sincere thanks for their assistance over the last many years. We know we could not
have been able to develop these degrees without their help. We look forward to
continued good relationships and cooperation.
